Self-awareness offers many benefits to help you live a happier, more fulfilling and genuine life:
- The ability to act consciously instead of reacting to people and events.
- The ability to genuinely love yourself.
- Being authentically happy rather than pretending you are.
- Greater depth of experience and enjoyment of life.
- The ability to redirect your negative thoughts and emphasize positive ones.
- Behaving positively instead of creating additional obstacles.
- Enjoying positive interpersonal relationships.
- Being the real you.
- Living courageously and without limits.
- The ability to make your dreams come true.
What would your life look like if you did all these ten things on a regular basis? Self-awareness is a powerful tool to help you live the life you’ve always wanted rather than settling for whatever comes your way. What will you do to live a more conscious life?
Cheers,
Guy
Absolutely, and with out a doubt, it is an absolute blast, I hope you re having one too! But it takes a fair bit of courage to sit down and really think about WHO you are, as it also means getting confronted with, as well as admitting to, ones personal flaws.
But I disagree that creating new challenges would be a bad thing, it is challenging yourself and succeeding and learning new lessons on the way that gets you further.
Cheers,
Another Guy
Thank you for your insights. I agree that challenges are beneficial to growth. I’ve changed the word “challenges” in item number six to “obstacles” to clarify what I was trying to say. Cheers, Guy.
I was not aware but nowadays I am more self aware.
Glad to hear you’re building your self-awareness Nchidzi. Cheers, Guy.
I have an upcoming presentation and I’d like to discuss the ideas in this article. Can you help me briefly explain the above 10 points about self awareness?
Thanks for your question, Misra. I’m glad you’re presenting about self-awareness. Perhaps another way of looking at the ten points is as follows:
1. Thinking about one’s actions before acting.
2. Liking oneself so one is more balanced and can treat others well.
3. Working on oneself so that there are as few unresolved issues as possible.
4. One enjoys life more if one resolves the deeper pending issues.
5. Saying and thinking positive things instead of negative ones.
6. Behaving in a positive way instead of doing negative things.
7. Getting along with others.
8. Being the person you know you are deep inside.
9. Following your inner voice.
10. Knowing yourself so you can follow your true path.
Good luck on your presentation. Cheers, Guy.
All these benefits are true because I’m practicing them on a daily basis and now I’m enjoying life much more. It’s working. 🙂
So glad to hear you’re working on things, Sumit. All the best in your journey, Guy.
Could you expand on the benefits of self awareness or add details of these benefits….
Thank you for your question, Sara. Here are some ideas to expand on each item:
1. When you act consciously you’re able to behave in ways that are productive instead of simply reacting to a situation, for example: Devising a plan before a crisis occurs.
2. Loving yourself means you like who you are, treat yourself well, and move in a positive direction the majority of the time.
3. Being authentically happy means that when you look deep inside you feel genuinely settled, balanced and full of joy, and that you’re not ignoring issues that get in the way of your happiness.
4. You enjoy life more deeply when you’re self-aware because you understand why you feel, think, and behave the way you do and you’re able to modify each one in order to move in a positive direction.
5. You become skilled at finding positive solutions to situations.
6. You do things in your life that lead in a positive direction instead of getting in the way of your enjoyment and well-being.
7. Your relationships are filled with love, fulfillment, reciprocity, and balance.
8. You discover what you really want to do in life and you do it.
9. You have the courage to pursue your dreams.
10. You do the work necessary to live your dreams.
I’ve found it helpful to remember that self-awareness is understanding who you are and why you feel, think, and behave the way you do so you can consciously move your life in the direction you want it to go.
Take care,
Guy
